Consumers rely heavily on mobile devices, which have become essential objects in anyone's life. To meet these daily demands, the development of applications for Android devices continues to grow tremendously.

This book, which is a continuation of other works by the same author, focuses on two essential topics related to the development of applications in any software platform: databases and geolocation.

Data management plays a key role in the development of consistent applications, but it is necessary to know and master data persistence techniques in the Android system. Geolocation, in turn, is used in a wide variety of services included in Google Play Services, which make Android applications more contextual and responsive to the location of the device. This way, the user experience is richer.

This book has been written specifically for professionals in the field of mobile programming, teachers and students of mobile computing courses, and all people interested in mobile devices.

Ricardo Queirós holds a PhD in Computer Science from the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto. He teaches at the School of Media Arts and Design, where he leads the Programming Languages ​​and Techniques and Databases courses. In parallel, he conducts research in the area of ​​interoperability between e-learning systems. He is the author of the books «Android – Desenvolvimento de Aplicações com Android Studio», «Desenvolvimento de Aplicações Profissionais em Android» and «Android – Introdução ao Desenvolvimento de Aplicações», and co-author of the book «Introdução ao Desenvolvimento de Jogos em Android», all published by FCA – Editora de Informática.
