Office of Naval Research Global visits INESC TEC
On 25 August, INESC TEC welcomed a delegation from the US Office of Naval Research Global (ONRG). The goal with this visit was to showcase INESC TEC’s work in the sea component.
More specifically, the delegation visited the facilities of the Centre for Robotics and Autonomous Systems (CRAS) at ISEP, where they had the opportunity to see demonstrations both from CRAS and the Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia Center (CTM).
The ONRG invests 90 percent of its portfolio in mid- and long-term research, to improve and train naval forces through knowledge production. For this, the US organisation seeks to collaborate with educational institutions and profit and non-profit organisations with new ideas and innovative scientific and technological research.
This visit was the result of contacts established through INESC TEC’s Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG) following an application submitted recently. It is important to stress that in the past the ONRG has supported INESC TEC initiatives, more specifically a conference organised by the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (LIAAD) and a workshop promoted by CSIG.
