Startup supported by INESC TEC among the best in the world

Framie, a startup created within the scope of the master’s degree in Innovation and Technological Entrepreneurship of the faculties of Engineering and Economics of the University of Porto with the support of the 1st edition of the Startup Porto Accelerator, reached the final of the University Startup World Cup, a world competition for university startups.

Framie was part of the group of 70 best academic startups in the world to reach the final and was bested only by one project, RAB-Microfluids of the University of Aberdeen (Scotland), which took the final award.

Framie presented a mobile application that aims to make use of collecting habits on social networks, mostly those related with photography. The app proposes thematic collections (for example, about statues in Porto) to users, which these should then expand based on predefined “watermarks” and share on the platform.

The business model is based on offering companies the opportunity to promote marketing activities (for example, by proposing collections) and increase consumer involvement.

Framie was part of the first edition of Startup Porto Accelerator, the acceleration programme created by the National Association for Young Entrepreneurs in partnership with INESC TEC. On the 30th of July, it won the Venture Cup Portugal competition, which secured its participation at the University Startup World Cup.
