INESC TEC joins the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of India’s independence
The Indian community in Porto celebrated the 70th anniversary of India’s independence on the 15th of August, in an event at the Porto Hindu Association organised by researcher Chetak Kandaswamy in collaboration with INESC TEC’s India Office.
Nearly 80 people, including members of the Hindu community, students and researchers, both Portuguese and Indian, participated in this festivity, whose programme included a showing of the “India Boundless” documentary , a cultural performance , a tasting of Indian cuisine and the broadcasting of video messages commemorating this day by Portuguese public figures.
The event had the participation of Gabriel David, member of the Board of Directors of INESC TEC, Amararam Gurjar, chargé d'affaires of the Government of India in Portugal, and Paresh Prabhudas, head of the Porto Hindu Association.
It should be mentioned the goal of INESC TEC’s India Office, established this year, is to promote scientific cooperation with Indian institutions. This Office also organises acculturation initiatives for Indian students and researchers.
