Acting on the components of the energy ecosystem, the project aims to improve the services of the city and increase the quality of life of citizens through the use of renewable energies and the integration of distributed energy resources. The proposed solutions will be based on active demand management techniques to control energy consumption, using the concept of active consumer/producer (prosumer) and new energy management strategies, which will contribute to social challenges by using a multidisciplinary approach based on different application fields at smart city level.

The consortium is composed of the Institute of Physical Energetics and AES Energy Systems, Inc. (AESES) of Latvia, and Politehnica University of Bucharest in Europe. The University of Concepcion, the University of Atacama and the Metropolitan University of Chile, all of from Chile, and INESC P&D Brasil represent the South American partners. The project features a consortium of Brazilian universities formed as part of the INESC Brazil network. The kickoff meeting took place in March in the city of Riga, Latvia.
