The conference "Local networks and inter-regional cooperation: Moving forward the Digital Local Agenda" will assess the progress of the main European networks of local and regional governments on the implementation of the Digital Local Agenda (DLA), a strategic plan that is used for the development of the Information Society in cities and regions. The conference will be organised around five themes:

1. The collaboration among innovators from the public and private sector in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT);

2. The use of ICTs in order to build networks for service delivery in local communities;

3. Models of "e-Services" and Web 2.0 deployment;

4. Building digital capacity in local administrations;

5. Progress of the digital local agenda: used methodologies and first lessons learnt.

This last session will be co-organised by ELANET, the network on information society, and by the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR). An implementation model of the Digital Local Agenda will be presented during the session.

Rui Barros, researcher from INESC Porto’s Information and Communication Systems Unit (USIC) and member ELANET's  Steering Committee , will be chairman on a parallel session and carry out a presentation on a best practice called "Platform for the Public Discussion of Regional Director Plans".

A set of recommendations will be approved in Naples with the aim of strengthening the Digital Local Agenda process, engaging as many local and regional governments as possible with its implementation.
