Structure of the course

The course consists of three sessions of five and a half hours. The sessions will have two parts: a lecture part and a workshop part. During the lecture, a topic and the relevant network concepts are introduced and illustrated with an example. During the workshop, participants work on assignments related to the topic presented in the first part of the session, applying the free Pajek software for analysis and visualization of large networks. The participants will have opportunities to discuss their research topic and their data.

• Registration: participants should register at http://www.fep.up.pt/conferencias/sna/ and pay the fee until 16th February 2009 by bank transfer to FEP-SNA (NIB 0035 0442 00026491330 45, CGD) or directly in the Financial Department at FEP (D. Filomena Ferreira)

• Participants: In the end of the course, participants that registered and attend all sessions will receive a certificate signed by Gindo Tampubolon and stamped by the Faculdade de Economia do Porto.

• Schedule: Friday - 14:30/17:30; Saturday - 10:00/13:00 and 14:30/17:30
