INESC TEC wants to modernise equipment for industry 4.0

In November 2016, INESC TEC kicked off project ADIRA 4.0 where the goal is to respond to the need for innovative and economically viable solutions that make it possible to turn equipment into intelligent components of manufacturing systems. The project is led by INESC TEC’s Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE).

Implemented within the digitisation paradigm advocated by the industry 4.0, this project aims to develop technological and software solutions, applied to capital goods, which will make it possible to configure innovative products/services and to adapt existing equipment to industry 4.0, following a modernisation approach involving mechatronics and sensing components.

Project ADIRA 4.0 is coordinated by António Correia Alves and the project team includes César Toscano, Hugo Miguel Ferreira and Pedro Ribeiro, all researchers at CESE.

Besides INESC TEC, other members of the consortium include INEGI and the industrial company ADIRA - Metal-Forming Solutions. The project has a duration of 36 months.

The researchers mentioned in this article are associated with INESC TEC and UP-FEUP.
