Glintt obtains funding from 2020 Programme (ComputerWorld)

The company has developed a hospital logistics management system, together with INESC TEC, which will be implemented at a hospital.

Glintt has designed the hospital logistics system, the KnowLogis, in partnership with INESC TEC. The company has received funding from the 2020 Programme to implement the platform as part of a pilot project. The implementation and testing will start in mid-2017 and will be concluded by the end of 2019.

The system was designed to support decision-making processes based on indicators provided on an intelligent information panel. With the system, it is possible to predict needs, monitor and coordinate expenses with medications, medical devices and materials, according to a press release from the company.

The platform’s assets include intelligent inventory report and the dynamic management of warehouses. “The system automatically analyses the evolution of clinical material and medication stocks, incorporating history data and the planning of procedures (such as surgeries), and suggesting supply policies”, the press release states.

According to the company, the KnowLogis was designed to make financial management easier, offering monitoring functionalities, in accordance with a defined budget. The platform also makes it easier to coordinate purchases, making it possible to automatically orchestrate between budgetary adjustments and operational decisions.

This project tries to respond to different needs that have been identified together with INESC TEC’s Centre for Industrial Management and Engineering, and with users that “represent the public, public-private and private sectors”, according to Glintt.

Also according to the company, the system will correct deviations from budgets and conduct financial impact simulations resulting from operational changes.

The manufacturer also predicts that in 2017 there will be increasing investments in innovative solutions in the healthcare market.
