North-American researcher at INESC TEC to prepare Digitópia Collective concert

The North-American researcher is currently collaborating in the project “Bridging the gap between performers and the audience using networked smartphones”, whose result will be three music pieces to be presented at INESC TEC’s anniversary concert, on 26 October of this year. The audience will be participating in the even using their smartphones, providing an interesting environment between the audience and the performers.

INESC TEC technology allows users to watch 3D concerts and choose most interesting perspective

The “Personalized Multiview Environment”, developed at INESC TEC’s Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia (CTM) together with FEUP as part of the research line “Media, Arts & Technologies (MAT)”, enables immersive personalised experiences, presenting 3D contents to the users based on their preferences. These preferences are perceived according to the image area that the user focuses on at any instant. This prototype can be used in different areas, such as music, education, health, or tourism.

INESC TEC creates game based on tags to facilitate access to large video archives

TAG4VD is the name of the game created by INESC TEC’s Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia (CTM) and the Porto School of Engineering (ISEP) to facilitate the management of and access to large video archives. This collaborative annotation system, based on web and HTML5 technology, will be particularly useful to professionals who produce contents or work for TV stations, museums, and others, thus reducing the financial and human resources costs usually associated with archive management.

INESC TEC develops app that knows the preferences of users

INESC TEC’s Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia (CTM) is developing an app for Android that makes it possible to understand the users’ musical preferences, and the most interesting news and films for them, in an automatic and non-invasive way. The app is called CAMR (Context-Aware Personalized Multimedia Recommendations for Mobile Users) and is being developed as part of the MAT – Media Arts and Technology research programme.

Innovative ultra-BROadband ubiquitous Wireless communications through terahertz transceivers (iBROW) is the name of a project in which INESC TEC is involved where the goal is to develop new, low-cost, and energy-efficient wireless transmitters capable of supporting the increasing requirements in data transmission. The project started in January 2015 and is being developed by a consortium of 11 partners.
