Expert system to support the network operator in real time decisions

INESC TEC takes part in project SIMULESP (Expert system to support the network operator in real time decisions), in collaboration with Eletropaulo (São Paulo, Brazil).

The contract, signed in January 2011, aims at providing services for the UNISANTA (University of Santa Cecília, São Paulo, Brazil) which is responsible for the R&D project that will run for three years.

INESC TEC's will develop a tool to support the reconfiguration of the sub-transmission network within SIMULESP. The tool will use advanced automatic learning techniques on continuous data flows and decision support and will be based on all of the information available on the network, including SCADA information obtained in real-time. This project benefits from the operational network knowledge of the Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES), and as well as the expertise in the areas of automatic learning and information processing from the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (LIAAD).

Jorge Pereira from CPES and João Gama from LIAAD are the project leaders.
