The Open Innovation concept proposed by Henry Chesbrough describes a new paradigm for innovation management in the 21st century.

In this climate, marked by competitive strength and change, knowledge has become a key strategic asset for organisations, forcing them to collaborate with other organisations in order to share synergies and explore complementary areas to increase their innovative potential.

The innovation model has now become the recipe for success for organisations today.

It is important to analyse the potential of adopting this practice and the conditions necessary for its correct application so organisations can understand in what situations the open innovation model is more appropriate than traditional “closed” approaches.

Through the analysis of national and international cases, the Open Innovation Executive Programme provides the opportunity to reflect on the opportunities of implementing the principles of open innovation models in companies. The programme speaker, Marko Torkkeli, a professor of Technology and Business Innovation at the Technological University of Lappeenranta, in Kouvola, in Finland is also a researcher at UITT.
